Knaresborough Schools

Knaresborough in Bloom works with young people through our schools’ competitions. A number of Knaresborough primary schools are busily growing spring bulbs, as part of our “Grow a bowl of spring flowers” competition. These should be ready for judging in April, just in time for our spring judging of the town for Yorkshire in Bloom. KIB also runs a “Design a Flowerbed” competition. In 2017 this was won by students from The Forest School and the theme was “Space” due to the 60th anniversary of the launch of “Sputnik” the world’s first artificial satellite and the beginning of man’s adventures in space. This design was planted at the castle bowling green. I hope that you all saw and admired it!
In 2018 the theme is Steam Trains to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of mainline steam trains in the UK. Look out for the winning design on castle top from the beginning of June.
